ABOUT BALIKESİR

Balıkesir is the center of science, art, politics, and culture in a large region called Mysia in the Ancient Age, Karesi in the Ottoman period, and Balıkesir in the modern Turkiye period. Balıkesir, bordered by İstanbul in the North and İzmir in the South, is also surrounded by the great cultural centers in the Ancient Ages, such as Troy, Assos, Pergamon, Kysykos, Antandros, Aizonai, Dasklepion, which are essential settlements in the west of Asia Minor. In other words, Balıkesir is a city with traces of Western and Asia Minor civilization.
